Looks and motion

Four settings on Settings → Appearance decide how the bar looks and moves: its glass, its border, its cursor, and whether anything animates.

Open them with ⌘, in the bar and pick Appearance, or type glass, look or reduce motion in the bar to jump to one. Every change shows at once.

Glass

The bar is one sheet of glass over whatever is behind it. Glass picks which kind:

OptionWhat it looks like
LiquidThe default. Clear Liquid Glass, like macOS's own Search or Ask bar: darker behind the search field and clearer below, with white symbols. Marked experimental.
FrostedAn evenly tinted, frosted glass. Symbols follow your Mac's text color.

The footer pills, the ⌘K menu and cards in the bar are made of the same kind of glass, so they match whichever you pick.

Before macOS 26. Liquid Glass needs macOS 26 or later. On macOS 15, the bar uses a blur behind it instead, whichever option you pick.

Look: the border

Look shows a small live picture of each option; the one you're using is outlined. Click one, or press ↵ on the row to switch.

Glowing cursor

With Glowing cursor on (the default), the search field's cursor is a white bar with a soft glow that shifts from cool to warm, like macOS's Search or Ask bar. Turn it off for a plain white cursor.

How the bar moves

Motion in Saiki is quick and never in your way:

Reduce motion

Turn on Reduce motion and nothing animates: the bar appears, leaves and changes size at once, the cursor doesn't blink, and the colorful border and the dictation glow hold still.

It's also on by itself whenever macOS's own Reduce Motion is on (System Settings → Accessibility → Display → Reduce motion).

Light and dark

The bar follows your Mac's light or dark appearance; there's no separate setting for it.
