Web and site search
Search the web from the bar, or search inside one site, like YouTube or GitHub, by typing its shortcut and pressing ⇥.
Search the web from anywhere
Whatever you type, the list ends with Search Google for “…” (followed only by the Ask AI row). Press ↓ to it and ↵ to open the results in your browser.
Saiki uses the default search engine of your Chrome profile, so if you changed Chrome's engine to DuckDuckGo, the row says DuckDuckGo. Without Chrome, it's Google. Settings → Search shows which engine is used, under Search engine. Pages open in your default browser.
Web search with suggestions
? then ⇥: search the web, with suggestions as you type.- Type
search, webor?and press ⇥. The field shows your engine's name. - With nothing typed yet, the bar lists your most visited pages.
- Type your search. One row searches for exactly what you typed; below it come your engine's suggestions, then matching pages from your history (a page that's open shows as its tab). When what you type starts a site you've visited, that site comes first, as in the main search.
- Press ↵ on any row to open it.
Press esc, or ⌫ on an empty field, to go back to the main search.
Search inside a site
- Type a site's shortcut, like
yt. You can also type its name or address:youtubeoryoutube.com. - A row for the site appears, with the hint Search YouTube beside ⇥. Pressing ↵ here opens the site itself.
- Press ⇥. The field shows the site's icon and name.
- Type what you're looking for and press ↵. The site's results open in your browser.
Inside the scope, the bar also lists up to five pages you visited on that site that match. With nothing typed, ↵ opens the site.
The shortcut has to be typed whole: youtube works, yout doesn't.

Add your own site
- On the site, search for anything, and copy the address of the results page.
- In Settings → Search, under Site Search, choose Add Search Shortcut….
- Paste the address into Search URL. Saiki finds where the search goes and suggests a Name and a Shortcut. You can also type the address yourself with
%swhere the search goes, likehttps://example.com/search?q=%s. - Change the name or shortcut if you like, and press ↵ to save. ⇥ moves between the fields.
A shortcut uses lowercase letters, numbers, -, _ and ., and each site needs its own. The address must start with http or https, and the search can't change which site it goes to.
Change or remove a site
In Settings → Search, select a site under Site Search and press ↵ to edit it.
- On a built-in site, changing only the shortcut renames it; changing its name or address makes it your own copy.
- To remove a site, press ⌘⌫ on it, or use the button in its form. Your own sites are deleted. A built-in site is turned off, or, if you renamed its shortcut, goes back to its original one.
