Privacy

Saiki has no account, no server of its own and no analytics. What you search, copy and say stays on your Mac. This page covers the Saiki app and this website, trysaiki.com. Saiki is an independent, open-source project; questions go to hello@trysaiki.com.
This website
- No cookies, analytics or trackers. The site doesn't set cookies, run analytics or load scripts from other companies. Its fonts and images are served from this site.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes your IP address and the details of each request to deliver the site and keep it safe.
- Links out. The GitHub and download links take you to GitHub, which has its own privacy statement.
- Email. If you write to hello@trysaiki.com, we get your address and your message. We use them only to reply, and delete them if you ask.
The Saiki app
What stays on your Mac
- Search. Saiki builds its own index of your files on your Mac, and reads your Chrome history and bookmarks from Chrome's own files on your Mac.
- Clipboard History. What you copy is kept in a database on your Mac, and text in copied pictures is read on your Mac. Copies marked secret (passwords, one-time codes) and anything copied in a password manager are never recorded, and API keys, tokens and card numbers are saved as
[redacted]. You choose how long history is kept, and can clear it any time. - Dictation. Your voice is transcribed and cleaned up on your Mac. To spell names right it may read the text around your cursor, never in password fields, and none of it is saved or logged.
- Everything else. Your settings, rankings and recent searches are files in Saiki's own folder.
What goes over the network
Only these, and each belongs to a feature you can turn off in Settings. Turning a feature off stops all of its work, network included.
- Web search suggestions: only in web search mode, what you type goes to your search engine for suggestions.
- Exchange rates: with the Calculator on, current rates are downloaded from Coinbase and checked against the European Central Bank. Nothing you type is sent.
- Dictation models: downloaded once from Hugging Face when you first dictate or pick a model, and checked before use.
- AI: your questions go through your own
claudeorcodextool to Anthropic or OpenAI, under your own plan and their terms. They never pass through a server of ours. With AI on, Saiki also checks whether a newer Claude Code is out. - Homebrew and App Updates: when you use them, package and app details come from Homebrew's public catalog, Apple's App Store and your apps' own update feeds.
- Network Speed Test: only when you run it, macOS's own speed test measures against Apple's servers.
- Site icons: for a site search shortcut without an icon, the icon is fetched once from that site itself.
- Saiki's own updates: Saiki checks for a new version of itself; turn off Check for updates automatically in Settings to stop it.
Saiki has no telemetry, crash reporting or usage tracking. Nothing about how you use it is sent to us.
Permissions
Saiki asks for each macOS permission (like Accessibility or Microphone) only when a feature first needs it, through macOS's own prompts. You can turn any permission off in System Settings, and any feature off in Saiki's Settings. More detail is in the docs' Privacy and safety page.
Children
Saiki and this site aren't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Saiki's code is open, so anyone can check what it does.
