Menu items and System Settings

Run any menu command of the app you were in without reaching for the menu bar, and open any setting on your Mac by typing its name.

Type a setting's name to open it, or menu and ⇥ to search the app's menus.

Search an app's menus

Menu search lists every command in the menu bar of the app you were in before you opened the bar, and runs the one you pick in that app.

  1. In the app, open the bar.
  2. Type menu and press ⇥. The hint says which app, like “Search Notes Menus”. You can also run the Search Menu Items command; its row names the app.
  3. Type part of the command, like export, and press ↵. The bar closes and the command runs in the app.

The menus are read fresh each time you open the scope, in the app's own language. If you open the bar again while still in the scope, it reads whichever app you're in now. If the app's menu changed before you pressed ↵, a message asks you to search again.

Needs Accessibility. Saiki reads another app's menus through macOS's Accessibility permission. Without it, Saiki first walks you through allowing it, then opens the scope. See Install and permissions.

Menu search works in any regular app with a menu bar, but not in Saiki itself. To turn it off, switch off Menu Item Search in Settings → Search, under Menu Items.

System Settings

Type what you want to change, like night shift, liquid glass or bluetooth. Saiki finds the setting itself, not just its pane, and ↵ opens System Settings right at that section.

Press ⌘K on one for:

Saiki's own settings

Saiki's settings are in search too. Type glowing cursor or web search suggestions, and the row shows its Settings section and current value. Press ↵ (Change Setting) to open Settings on that row, ready to change it.

A setting row's ⌘K has Pin to Empty Bar and Configure Command (Set Alias…, Open Settings, Hide from Search). See Settings for everything on each page.
