Window management
Snap the window you're working in to a half, a third, a corner or the full screen by typing its name or pressing a hotkey you choose. To keep every window side by side on one long row, see Window Strip; to jump between windows, Switch Windows.
Move a window
- Work in the window you want to move, then open the bar.
- Type the command, for example
left halformaxi, and press ↵. - The bar closes and the front window of the app you were in moves.
Type window management, snap or tile to list every command, the everyday ones first. Positions fit the screen the window is on, leaving the menu bar and the Dock clear.
Repeating a half
Run Left Half again on a window that's already there, and by default it becomes two thirds of the screen, then one third, then back to half. Right Half, Top Half and Bottom Half work the same way: ½ → ⅔ → ⅓.
Settings → Window Management → Repeating a half changes this: Steps ½, ⅔, ⅓ (the default), Moves across displays (each repeat moves the window one half further that way, on into the next display), or Does nothing.
maxi in the bar maximizes the other window.Restore
Restore puts a window back where it was before Saiki first moved it, with its old size. It works on windows Saiki has moved.

| Kind | Commands |
|---|---|
| Halves | Left Half, Right Half, Top Half, Bottom Half, Center Half |
| Quarters | Top Left Quarter, Top Right Quarter, Bottom Left Quarter, Bottom Right Quarter |
| Thirds | First Third, Center Third, Last Third, First Two Thirds, Center Two Thirds, Last Two Thirds |
| Fourths | First Fourth, Second Fourth, Third Fourth, Last Fourth, First Three Fourths, Center Three Fourths, Last Three Fourths |

| Position | Center, Move Up, Move Down, Move Left, Move Right |
| Displays | Next Display, Previous Display |
| Other | Toggle Full Screen, Restore |
- Thirds and fourths split the screen into columns from left to right; sixths are a grid of three columns and two rows.
- Almost Maximize centres the window at 90 % of the screen, Reasonable Size at 60 %.
- Maximize Height and Maximize Width stretch one way and keep the other.
- Center keeps the window's size. Make Larger and Make Smaller grow or shrink it a little on every side.
- Move Up, Down, Left and Right push the window to that edge of the screen without resizing it.
- Next Display and Previous Display move the window to another display, at the same place and size relative to it. They show only when you have more than one display.
- Toggle Full Screen puts the window in or out of macOS full screen.
Gaps and Stage Manager
- Gap around windows (a slider, 0 to 32 pt, 0 to start) leaves space at the screen's edges and between windows the commands place side by side.
- Leave room for Stage Manager (on to start): while Stage Manager's recent apps show, windows fill the rest of the screen instead of covering them.
Hotkeys
No window command has a hotkey to start with. Give any of them one on Settings → Hotkeys, in the Window Management section, and it works from any app without opening the bar. See Hotkeys and aliases.
Keys from another window manager
Coming from another app? Settings → Window Management has a row for each set of keys; press ↵ on it to give every command those keys at once.
| Row | Keys |
|---|---|
| Use Rectangle / Magnet Keys | ⌃⌥ with ← → ↑ ↓ for halves, U I J K quarters, D F G thirds, E R T two thirds, ↩ Maximize, C Center, = − larger and smaller, ⌫ Restore; ⌃⌥⌘← → other displays |
| Use Spectacle Keys | ⌥⌘ with arrows for halves, F Maximize, C Center, Z Restore; ⌃⌘ and arrows for quarters; ⌃⌥⇧← → smaller and larger |
- If the set would replace keys you chose yourself, a card names them first, and nothing changes unless you press Replace.
- A key macOS or another Saiki command already uses is skipped, and the command keeps the key it had. The row says In Use once its keys are all set.
- Edit Each Key opens the Window Management section of Hotkeys.
- With Window Strip on, its keys take ⌃⌥← → while it runs. Turn the strip off and they're halves again.
Settings
Settings → Window Management has the switch for the whole feature (on to start); turned off, the commands leave the bar and their hotkeys stop. Its Placement section holds the gap, Stage Manager and repeating-a-half settings above.
